WASHINGTON — Have you ever sat on your couch while watching a game and thought to yourself, “I can hang with these guys?” Well, a long-time Washington Redskins fan, Josh Richards, got just that chance. On the final day of a three-day informal workout session, ‘Skins linebacker London Fletcher went over to a small group of fans and asked if anyone had brought their gear. Luckily for Richards, a former high-school defensive back, he had his cleats on and was ready to go!
After running through some drills with the DB’s, said Richards of his experience, “This ranks pretty high because now I can tell all my friends, I practiced with the Redskins. It could have been during the lockout and an informal practice, but I practiced with the Redskins. It’s not going to leave my memory. I’m going to savor this moment.”
Forever.
In a sport that’s getting a lot of negative publicity due to the NFL lockout, thanks to London Fletcher, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity for a passionate fan. We here at The Good in Sports commend him and his teammates for this simple gesture that will be savored forever and proudly give London a Gold Star.
So, does Josh think he can hang now? Said Richards, “I always felt like I could be someone in the league, but not after looking at them.” That goes for the rest of us “arm chair quarterbacks,” too!
