2011 MLB All-Star Game’s Perfect Opening

Kudos to Major League Baseball for the opening of the 2011 All-Star Game telecast, honoring those affected by the January 9, 2011 shooting in Tucson, Arizona. The touching moment began when MLB announced that some of those injured in the shooting were in attendance, courtesy of the league. The moment continued when a short blurb was read about 9-year-old Christina Taylor Green, the granddaughter of former manager Dallas Green, who was killed during the shooting. With tears in many eyes, her parents, who were in attendance, presented the lineup cards before the game.

Well done, MLB. We here at The Good in Sports tip our hat to you and add you to our “Cool in Sports,” list.
