Kudos goes to San Jose Giants catcher, Tommy Joseph, who’s had an amazing past couple of weeks and who’s recent August success can serve as evidence against the contrary notion that ball players go through slumps, late in the season. For the week of August 8 through the 14th, Joseph was named California League Player of the week. A well-deserved and noteworthy honor; especially after putting up such impressive numbers for San Jose The 55th overall pick (2009 – Horizon High School in Arizona) was also a major reason the S.J. Giants were able to pull off a sweep of the Jethawks (8/11-14). During the series, Joseph went 11 for 15, with 11 RBIs, 8 runs scored, and a staggering 5 home runs hit.
Joseph has proven that his recognition was no fluke. In the series against Lake Elsinore, (8/15-18) Joseph had a combined 13 at-bats, 4 hits including 2 home runs, and with 5 RBIs overall. Strengthening Joseph’s batting average in the past 10 games to .409.
